Dive into a world of visual storytelling in this expressive collage-making class where we explore emotions through the lens of consumer culture. Using advertisements clipped from magazines spanning from the 1950s to today, we will uncover how ideals, identities, and emotional cues have been packaged and sold across the decades — and recreate those narratives through creative reassembly. Each session, participants will be encouraged to focus on different emotional themes (joy, fear, desire, anxiety, etc.), guiding participants to cut and layer imagery to create personal, thought-provoking collages.
Perfect for artists of all levels — no prior experience necessary, just an open mind and a pair of scissors! Please bring a folder or portfolio to contain and transport your work.
