Thursday, October 2
5:30–7:00pm
Presented by the artist, Deborah Ann Lucas
Join Deborah Lucas for a powerful evening of story, art, and reflection inspired by her memoir Dance While the Fire Burns and her exhibition in the Celebration Gallery at Emmanuel Lutheran.
The book closes with the loss of her brother to AIDS in 1995, a moment that brought her to Womanspace in search of healing and connection. Through clay, horses, and community, she discovered strength, belonging, and the courage to keep creating./ In this program, Deborah will weave together readings from her memoir, stories behind her paintings and sculptures, and reflections on the role of community in shaping her life as an artist and woman.
Together, we will witness how creativity, spirituality, and support can transform grief into resilience and loneliness into home.
