The story begins in 1972 with the discovery of a skeleton in a well, prompting a flashback to reveal the secrets and strong bonds between the residents, particularly focusing on Moshe and Chona Ludlow, who run the titular grocery store and a local theater, and their efforts to help those in their community despite racial and class divides.

Paid enrollment in a Womanspace class must be cancelled in order for the student to be eligible for a refund. A refund (minus a $10 non-refundable deposit, minus the 4% service fee) will be granted according to the following:
