Instructor:  Rebecca Beneditz

Ages 3–6 with an adult. Bring your child (age 3-6) to join Petal Creative in exploring flowers and nature! Each session will focus on a different topic and include a story, craft, and outdoor exploration (weather permitting). Session topics include Color, Texture, Shapes and Sounds.

Each session will be 1 hour, cost is for parent/child pair, additional children may be registered using the "Guest Registration" option at $10/additional child. Younger siblings (under 3yo)  are welcome to come along if needed, but the craft/activity will only be for the registered 3-6 year old.

All supplies provided with registration. Each child must be accompanied by their adult. Wear long pants, a hat, closed shoes, sunscreen and bug spray.

JUNE 6: COLOR We will read the book, Planting a Rainbow by Lois Ehlert. We will go outside, chalk squares with different colors, go find nature treasures and organize them according to the color sections. We will also plant a flower seedling to take home.

JUNE 13: TEXTURE We’ll read the book, Soft, Smooth, Rough and Bumpy: A Book About Touch by Dana Meachen Rau. Explore different textures at our feel station, then test your knowledge at the Secret Texture Touch Boxes. We will do Crayon Rubbings and take a Texture Walk.

JUNE 20: SHAPES After reading The Shape of Things by Dayle Ann Dodds, we will create a necklace with a shape to decorate. See and learn examples of nature shapes inside, then head outside to do a search for nature shapes on the grounds.

JUNE 27: SOUNDS The Listening Walk by Paul Showers or I Hear You, Forest by Kallie George will be our final book to read in this series. We will decorate a seed pod to make a natural shaker, go on a listening walk on the grounds, and put found objects in a collection container to make your own shaker.
