Black History Month special Supper & Film showing of A Raisin in the Sun, 1961, starring Sidney Poitier. It will include a discussion of Lorraine Hansberry, the playwright that brought A Raisin in the Sun to the Broadway stage. Ms. Hansberry was the first African-American female to bring a play to Broadway. The play/film highlights the lives of black Americans in Chicago living under racial segregation and their attempts for a better life outside the city. It was nominated for numerous awards. 1961. 128 min.
