John Sloan, 1871-1951

American Realism/ Painter and Etcher

John Sloan was a member of The Eight and one of the founders of The Ashcan School of American Art. He is most known for his urban genre scenes of life in New York City during the first decades of the 20th century. He embraced the principles of Socialism in his life and art.
