Tapestry weaving is an ancient technique used by many cultures to create fabrics for clothes, wall hangings and furniture. In this class students will learn the basics of tapestry weaving, how to plan and design a tapestry project, and traditional easy to learn tapestry techniques. Students will also learn how to build and set up a loom, add plain weave, utilize rya knots, incorporate soumak and create shapes while experimenting with color, pattern and texture. Plus, a few important finishing steps to get your work off your loom and onto your wall. Take your loom home and keep creating after the class! Students need to bring: 4 skeins of different types of yarn in colors of their choice, optional beads and other things to add to their weaving.
