    A Matter of Balance is an award-winning program designed to manage falls and increase activity levels. This 8 week long program meets for one hour each week and teaches strategies to reduce the fear of falling. Seniors learn that falls and the fear of falling are controllable.

    Morgan will share with you how after a traumatic event in her life the use of essential oils helped with the healing process. Morgan also has a background in medical science and is able to help integrate the two aspects of care together: medical science and other healing options.

    Kimberly will explain the use and rationale of sound in healing. This lunch and learn will also include a short experience with sound. The experience will provide each participant a personal feel for the affects of sound.

    Whether planning for the future or when trying to arrange for short or long-term care for a loved one, the options can seem overwhelming.. Where to start? What does the terminology mean? Understanding the options can find the "right piece" of the puzzle for you or your loved one. Northern Illinois Care Coalition will guide an educational session about the different types of care, financial options, and types of agencies. This is not a session that will offer any specific program or sell any programs.

    The fall is a great time to prepare for the upcoming cold and flu season. Learn about herbs that aid winter wellness and prepare several remedies to take home, such as simple syrup, lozenges, and a throat spray. We will also sample tea and infusions that can easily be made at home.

    Each person, unless immortal, will eventually die. Some deaths are certainly more tragic than others depending on the circumstances. Come to this lunch and learn and find out about “ death cafes” and “death duolas.” Rhiannon is a certified duola. Her role is to help the dying  to have a less traumatic event with the dying process.  Her role also includes support to the ones left to live on.  Learn about the difference between hospice care and a death duola. Learn how this process can work for you or someone you know.

    You will make 10 plus herbal gift items that you can give to your friends and family, or keep for yourself. The classroom will be set up in stations and you will rotate through making a different item at each station. Everyone will make lip balm, body spray, felted soap, herbal condiments, herbal salts for foot and bath, lotion bar, dream pillow, herbal tea blend, and more. Learn about the variety of herbs offered and select herbs that resonate with you. The class fee includes a $20 supply fee for all the supplies provided during the class.
