No previous dance experience required; great for all fitness levels — even those with physical limitations. (Contact Freya prior to class to discuss specific situation.)

Belly dancing is incredibly empowering. Women and men of every size and ability level will have fun while building confidence, strength and grace. Learn the Egyptian roots of Belly dance and then experiment with modern tribal and fusion styles. Short combinations and choreography will be incorporated into technique and drills making it a great workout for your muscles and your mind. Some choreography will incorporate props such as veils, fan veils, canes, or finger cymbals which will be available to borrow in class. For those who want their own, a limited number of items and hip scarves will be available for purchase.

Come in yoga pants, leggings or other attire that allows full range of motion. No baggy shirts, baggy pants or long skirts as it’s important for you and the instructor to see your body positions. Also, a scarf or shawl to tie around your hips is helpful to see your hip movements in the mirror.
