DIET. BINGE. REPEAT... Are you tired of the cycle? Have you tried numerous diets in an effort to lose weight only to gain it all back and then some? Annette McLean, LCPC CEDS explains why the traditional answer to losing weight does not work and leaves us disillusioned and feeling like a failure. She believes our problems with weight are about much more than food. As she explains, we have not ended up in this situation because we are flawed, but rather because for many of us, food has been the tool we have used to manage emotions and care for ourselves. Drawing on her background in cognitive behavioral and feminist theory, Annette's. The Hands That Feed Me offers readers a path back to wellness and recovery. Among other things, we will learn · The basic mechanics of recovery · How we need to aim for recovery more gently and how force and perfectionism delay our progress. · How to “observe” as opposed to getting “hijacked’ by our emotions. · How to investigate our thoughts in a kind and respectful way · How to develop our inner voice of wisdom, called our self-mothering voice · How to recognize our struggle as a way to more deeply understand ourselves and transform our suffering into emotional and spiritual growth. Using a step by step feeling regulation tool (SOFT AIM) combined with the basic mechanics of recovery and providing space for self-reflection, The Hands That Feed Me is your go to guide for recovery from compulsive eating.
