Marc Chagall 1887-1985 Russian-French Suigeneris: Fantasy, Neo-Primitive, Realism, Cubism, Symbolism, Proto-Surrealism

Marc Chagall portrayed archetypes, his memories and works from his imagination. Bach, Mozart and the music from his Hasidic, Jewish community influenced him and his art. He moved around a lot in his life and his “floating fiddler” image of the wandering Jew is symbolically portrayed in much of his art. Also, we are fortunate to have a number of Chagall’s creations in Chicago. All of this will be presented in this class.
